A Dragon Smashing through to the Buoy

If you race Dragons, look for a notice from your National Dragon Sailing Association or Yacht Club with details of this special painting. The original painting is available for sale, as well as a signed limited edition on either bond paper or as a Gliclee on fabric. Here is some information about the painting...

In March, 2012, the Artist and his wife, Olga, traveled to the French Alps and to the Italian Riviera to create paintings for his two clients there. While they were in Poggio, Italy - a tiny village above San Remo - the International Italian Dragon Cup Regatta was scheduled to take place on March 20-25th at the Yacht Club of San Remo.

As the Official Artist for TheSailingChannel.tv, David Schor visited the Yacht Club and met with an officer of the club and was invited to participate in the activities, and to accompany the race on a committee boat. The Artist agreed to create a painting of this race and perhaps a series of paintings of the Dragon Class. Each day, viewed from the mountaintop view of the Ligurian Sea from Poggio, the winds were extreme and there was a great deal of chop on the water - perfect for exciting racing.

"A Dragon Smashing through to the Buoy," with its dramatic use of colors and the strong use of foreground, middle ground and distance, takes the viewer right into the race. Unusual for Schor is the fact that both boat and sails retain their actual colors and the excitement is caused by the other aspects of the painting.
